Blogging 2020: How to Make Profitable Blog to M...

Blogging first started as a way to have an online personal web log, in which a person would journal about their day. From "web log" came the term "blog."  Like most new innovations on the Internet, many entrepreneurs saw marketing potential in having a blog, and blogging took off from there. Not only can a blog be used for marketing, but also, a blog can be a home business in and of itself. Here's an overview of what a blog is, why it's popular, and tips to starting your own blog.  Many people are confused over what constitutes a blog over a website. Part of the problem is that many businesses use both, integrating them into a single web presence. But there are two features of a blog that set it apart from a traditional website. Blogs are updated frequently. Whether it's a mommy blog in which a woman shares adventures in parenting, a food blog sharing new recipes, or a business providing updates to its services, blogs have new content added several times a week. Websites might occasionally have new information, but for the most part, they offer static, rarely changing information. Blogs allow for reader engagement. Blogs are often included in social media because of the ability for readers to comment and have a discussion with the blogger and others who read the blog. In the past, websites had guest logs where people could say they'd visited, but a blog allows for conversation and greater interaction than a traditional website does.  1. Language: English. If you have a family story to tell or research to share and want to know what your options are for publishing, this guide will: * lead you through how publishing works * illustrate the four stages of a publishing project * show you how to pick a project to publish (and give you some ideas for new projects) * analyze the which tools you will need to complete the project * and instruct you how to prepare your manuscript to publish in print, as an eBook, or online. This handy publishing primer will give you what you need to take your writing--your genealogical research, your family or local history, even your personal experiences and adventures--from manuscript to published book. Dina C. Carson has been involved in publishing and genealogy for more than two decades. She brings her experience with all phases of book publishing to help first-time self-publishers create quality family or local histories that are both believable and achievable. She is the coordinator of the Boulder Pioneers Project, a comprehensive look at the original source documents for Boulder County during the territorial period (1858-1876) and is the author of more than a dozen annotated indexes of Boulder County source materials. She lectures frequently to genealogical, historical and philanthropic societies, gives workshops on publishing, pioneers and other topics, and is working with the Colorado State Archives on state-wide records indexing projects. Although her formal education is in international law and economics, she owns Iron Gate Publishing, a publishing company that focuses on genealogy, local history and reunion planning. She is also a partner in Imagination Technology, a graphic design and marketing firm working with local businesses. When she's not at a computer working on a publishing project, you can find her photographing the pioneer cemeteries of Colorado.
